Dear Students

finalinvologo-verysmall2The Dean is fond of the holiday season because it’s a time where family and friends gather to celebrate their company, pursuits and ambitions for the New Year just around the corner. More often than not, these celebratory occasions consists of both casual and binge drinking and a recent study from Harvard Medical School suggests that infertile couples could cause further detriment to their dreams of conception over the holidays.

The Harvard study followed 2,500 couples attempting to conceive through IVF and compared those who drink regularly to those who do not. As startling as it may seem, The Dean learned that consuming a mere 4 alcoholic beverages in the course of a week “can significantly reduce a woman’s chances of becoming pregnant through IVF.”

In particular, wine proved to have negative effects on both men and women, decreasing the likelihood of a woman’s egg being successfully fertilized. The Dean believes that if just 4 drinks per week reduces fertility in women by 18% and 14% and men, infertility treatments will certainly be necessary for years to come. In fact, instances where both partners typically consume up to 4 drinks per week, chances of conception plummeted by as much as 26%.

The Dean believes that infertility treatments, such as $IVOB’s INVO procedure, could become more in demand in areas of the world where alcohol consumption is statistically higher. Dr. David Walsch of SIMS Fertility Clinic in Dublin suggests that European countries, such as Ireland, have taken more tolerant views of alcohol consumption for couples trying to conceive.

Although The Dean noticed that the study did not account for age, tobacco use and caffeine intake, Dr. Walsch and Dr. Mel Bates, of the Irish College of General Practitioners, both agree that “anything that’s bad for your health tends to be bad for your fertility.”

With 150 million infertile couples around the world, and the multi-billion dollar alcohol market not slowing, The Dean realizes that $IVOB’s potential market is not shrinking anytime soon.

Happy Trading, The Dean
