June Is Officially Biotechnology Month @ CollegeStock.com

Dear Students

To celebrate the coming launch of the Class Trip: Back 2 Biotech DVD, I have declared June as the Official Biotechnology Month @ www.CollegeStock.com. Throughout the month of June I’ll be teaching students about all the latest trends within the Biotech sector, with a special emphasis on our featured stock Cancer Therapeutics (CTHP), and I’ll even discuss how some existing cancer drugs can increase their efficacy by up to 7-fold with a NanoJacketed™ versions of existing drugs.

It’s only the 7th of June and the biotech sector has already given us some great news including the blockbuster FDA approval of Palomar Technologies’ (PMTI) over-the-counter anti-wrinkle laser device for the treatment of wrinkles around the eyes. Other exciting biotech news released in June includes:

  • Pfizer (PFE) announced FDA approval for Palladia (toceranib phosphate), used to treat mast-cell tumors in dogs on 6/4/09. Palladia marks the first cancer therapy for dogs to be approved for use in the United States and could be available to veterinarians in early 2010.
  • Generex Biotechnology Corp. (GNBT) announced on 6/5/09 plans to present positive mid-stage clinical data for its spray insulin product Oral-lyn at a scientific meeting of the American Diabetes Association, to be held from June 5 to June 9. As opposed to inhaled insulin products, Oral-lyn is sprayed in the mouth and does not penetrate the lungs.
  • Beacon Biotechnology (private) announced that it has invented a device that could dramatically speed the time it takes to test for disease. The company says a computer chip about the size of a pencil erase can use a single drop of body fluid to detect up to 112 diseases or genetic conditions in as little as 15 minutes.

The NASDAQ Biotechnology Index (NBI) is one of the best performing sectors during the past month (+11%) and most of the biggest movers have been small-cap biotechnology stocks. The proof is in the finviz.com stock screener search for a population consisting of (Industry: Healthcare) + (Sector:Biotechnology) = yields exactly 181 results. Of these 181 biotech stocks, a whopping 50% (90 results) fit the (Technical: Quarterly +50%) criterion. For any remedial students this means about 50% of biotech stocks have gained +50% during the most recent quarter. BTW for those ‘remedial penny stock students’ please CONTACT ME AND LEARN.

By the time I release the Class Trip: Back 2 Biotech DVD on Independence Day 2009 there is no telling how irrationally high the biotech sector could trade and with internet chatter at an all-time high for small cap biotechs, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Class Trip: Back 2 Biotech Featured Stock CTHP becomes the sector’s next big mover.

Be sure to check back daily as we unveil some exciting new stocks, content, & trading plugins throughout the month of June. Also, feel free to poke around in the Classroom Chat (right column of CollegeStock.com) and introduce yourself to the entire class. You can learn directly from other CollegeStock students like Rajat, AC & Sherpa in real-time and ask their thoughts on CTHP. We’re building one of the most educational communities throughout Wall Street and it’s always a pleasure to meet and greet new ambitious students so take advantage of my open door policy and CONTACT ME with all your biotech questions.

Happy Trading, The Dean

P.S. Don't forget to check out UVFT and its FDA approved "Swine Flu Killer" for a chance to profit BIG!
