How to Prepare for Swine Flu Profits

It seems like The Dean can’t go a day without hearing about swine flu and the chaos the virus is causing around the world.
A recent story reports that all of the schools in Ukraine are closed for a week in an effort to fight the spread of swine flu (H1N1). Precautions to prevent more cases among the adult population has many businesses, nightclubs, movie theaters and food markets also closing.
Other than the fact that swine flu has proven to be a deadly influenza strain, the Associated Press reports that millions of Americans fear swine flu because their jobs do not provide paid sick leave, which is especially unsettling when you consider the millions of Americans already out of work and underemployed. The article also suggests that many corporations are taking the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) advice by moving desks further apart and creating more shifts to have fewer people working together at the same time.
Lines are forming at clinics, pharmacies and doctors officers all around the country, in hopes that enough Tamiflu and other treatments will be available. Cities like San Fransisco are already planning for online tutoring and alternative education programs for what they fear may soon become the peak of the flu epidemic.
The Dean believes that a lot of these precautions are being made because nearly 5,000 people have died from swine flu since April. The Dean’s quite confident that the CollegeStock Community has heard about the lack of availability of treatments and the extended wait time for the new vaccine. In fact, The Dean’s brother, who is a medical professional in California, told him that hospitals and clinics in the area have reported that employees have been suspected of stealing Tamiflu and other flu preventatives.
Authorities are keeping a watch on schools, after 22 more children died from swine flu last week—making the pediatric death toll 126 in the United States. And adding to the swine flu panic are sources that suggest that swine flu is more deadly in children because the virus quickly attacks the lungs, leaving those infected vulnerable to pneumonia and other infections.
The Dean has recently called the CollegeStock Community’s attention to companies like BioCryst Pharmaceuticals (NYSE: BCRX), whose product recently received emergency use authorization from the FDA, because he believes there are plenty of companies that could see boosts because of swine flu and the inevitable winter surge of transmission and cases.
This is why The Dean’s incredibly excited about his upcoming Ivy League Stock Pick. And adding to The Dean’s excitement is the fact that this pick will be part of an IPO that The Dean’s Honors Class will learn about the first day it becomes a publicly traded stock.
The Dean wants the CollegeStock Community to stay tuned because there’s plenty more swine flu teasers to come!
