Here are The Dean’s List of price gainers for Friday, July 16, 2010:

VOCL $3.30 +150.00%
Today, VocalTec Communications Limited (NASDAQ: VOCL), “the inventor of VOIP [voice over internet protocol] and the softphone,” merged with YMAX Corp., the creator of majicJack. VOCL announced a 1-for-5 reverse split of its share capital, at which point the company will cease trading under the symbol VOCL. On Monday, VOCL will commence trading using the symbol CALL on NASDAQ.

STHG $0.0071 +77.50%
On Tuesday after market close, Stratton Holdings, Inc. (PINK: STHG) issued an update on the company’s current operations, commenting on this month’s launch of Stratton Mobile’s website, and its first mobile application, Portfolio Feed, which is also being developed for the iPhone beginning this week.

MCII $0.08 +23.08%
Last Friday, Mariner’s Choice International, Inc. (PINK: MCII) announced the welcoming of Wyndam Media to its media advisory board. Wyndam will also “begin a national marketing campaign” for MCII. Since this news, MCII has not seen additional news. Today, however, MCII traded nearly 4 times its 3 month average volume, after gaining as much as 33%.

ARNA $4.66 +18.88%
If you were following The Dean’s blog today, you would’ve read up on Vivus, Inc.’s (NASDAQ: VVUS) Qnexa rejection from the FDA. Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARNA), on the other hand, rallied 23% on more than 5.5 times its 90-day average volume today. ARNA focuses on discovering, developing, and commercializing oral drugs in the therapeutic areas of cardiovascular, central nervous system, inflammatory, and metabolic diseases.

AVII $1.81 +11.04%
This morning, AVI BioPharma, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVII) announced the company was awarded a contract with the U.S. Department of Defense for potential funding of up to $291 million “to advance development of therapeutic candidates for Ebola and Marburg Fever viruses.” In trading today, AVII shares jumped nearly 27%, trading 7,233,080 shares, more than 5 times its 10-day average volume.
